Oregon's Video Poker Retailers Get More Than Canadian Provinces - 2004-02-03
Secretary of State Bill Bradbury issued a study Thursday saying that state payments to Oregon's video poker retailers are much highet than payouts in other jurisdictions with similar lottery games.
An industry group representing bars and taverns immediately attacked the finding, claiming it is based on an “illegitimate” comparison between Oregon and lotteries in eight Canadian provinces.
Bradbury's office conducted the study at the request of the state Lottery Commission, which is preparing to draw up a new contract with the 1,900 bars and taverns that have video poker games.
