Gambling Raid Nets Public Officials - 2004-02-02
The Supreme Court will have to assign a new judge to deal with the case against a former state trooper,
a school board member, Chickasaw State Park officials and others cited over an illegal poker game in the park. General Sessions Judge Larry McKenzie recused himself from the case Friday.

Earlier in the week Chester County deputies and Henderson police, acting on a tip, raided a card game at Cabin 13. They seized two weapons, $643.50 in cash, four decks of cards, a pair of dice and the table the men were playing on, according to a police report on file at the Chester County Courthouse.

Who funds political parties - 2004-02-02
Tobacco, gambling and alcohol industries donated over $70,000 to South Australian political parties last year.

Australian Electoral Commission figures published yesterday show these sectors, along with trade unions and Gerard Industries, have been among the biggest political donors.

Representing hotels and poker machine operators, the Australian Hotels Association donated $27,900 to the Liberal Party, while the SkyCity casino company divided $9500 between the ALP and the Liberals.
