The tension in the room was intolerable, so when College sophomore Harry Crane finally pushed all his chips to the middle of the table and said, "call," it was like a weight had been lifted. Soon it was all over.

Engineering junior Dave Thornton won this year's Penn Poker Championship, the largest free-entry poker tournament ever at Penn with over 175 students and faculty participating.

Dayton's Rose wins Battle of Champions - 2004-02-02
Dayton-area resident Ron Rose defeated 11 other players to win The Travel Channel World Poker Tour Battle of Champions, which was aired Sunday on NBC during the two hours before the Super Bowl. His top prize was $125,000.

The Battle was played by the winners of the World Poker Tour's 13 events during its first season in 2003. It was taped on Dec. 19 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and was the network television debut for the Travel Channel's highest-rated show.
