Gambling bill would end required cruises - 2004-02-13
House members released the highlights of a broad gambling expansion bill Thursday that might permit up to five new riverboat licenses in the state, lift cruising requirements for riverboat casinos and authorize table games at racetracks.

Leaders from communities that are trying to lure new casinos as an economic development tool praised the bill, while gambling opponents said it would expand the industry too far.

Indy Police Suspect Illegal Gambling At Car Wash - 2004-02-13
Police say they will respond to residents' allegations
that a car wash is organizing illegal gambling.

Indianapolis police suspect the 38th Street Car Wash, located at 148 W. 38th St., has an illegal gambling operation, RTV6's Jack Rinehart reported. However, no charges have been filed.

During a surprise visit to the business in December, officers found evidence of an illegal card game, police said.

"There is gambling going on there," Indianapolis police Sgt. Tom Black said Thursday.
