Poker's Popularity Is A Sure Bet - 2004-02-13
Most of the time it's a group of guys sitting around playing the game, relaxing with a few beers and a box of cigars. But sometimes it's a group of women playing for pennies, and sharing the highs and lows of life along with the highs and lows of the game. Or a bunch of high school students playing with Starburst candy as the chips.

Whatever the scenario, millions of people are playing poker, a card game that's recently been revitalized, partly because of ESPN's broadcast of The World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and telecasts of the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel. Bravo also launched its Celebrity Poker show, with Ben Affleck and other famous personalities, in December.

Fourth Annual Barbeau Poker Run Set For Saturday - 2004-02-13
On Saturday, the Barbeau Business Association will be holding their fourth yearly Poker Run. With registration starting at 11 a.m., the snowmobile fun-run will be based out of the St. Mary's River Sportsman's Club this year -- whic is one mile south of the 15 Mile and Scenic Drive corner.

The poker run festivities will be held at the Sportsmen's Club, because of the recent loss of the Barbeau landmark -- Cozy Corners Tavern and Grill.
