Spota said police seized at least $7.2 million in assets, including two houses, several cars, two boats, $350,000 in cash and more. One ring was a traditional sports betting ring, allegedly run by Thomas Ambrose out of a Queens wire room.

Another was an illegal lottery based in Brentwood.

The third was a casino with video poker machines in Shirley. Defendants are charged with low-level felonies, but Spota said the cases are important because illegal gambling often provides the fuel for organized crime's other activities.
