No Pokies MP Welcomes Bank's Donations Policy - 2004-02-11
South Australian Independent MP Nick Xenophon has claimed a victory in his fight against large political donations.

The No Pokies MP says Adelaide Bank has buckled to shareholder pressure and will no longer give money to political parties.

Mr. Xenophon says in the past, the bank has donated up to $100,000 each to both the Liberals and Labor. He has congratulated the decision by the bank's board.

Sky City Betting On Darwin Casino - 2004-02-11
Sky City will own casinos in Auckland, Hamilton, Queenstown, Adelaide and Darwin if its most recent acquisition is approved.

Managing director Evan Davies says the Darwin casino gives an opportunity for Sky City to expand into Asia, through its closer proximity.

Darwin has a population of 104,000, and the casino, with 26 gaming tables, 450 pokies, and a 107-room hotel, has 3,000 visitors a day.
