Casino Makes Offer To Lawmakers - 2004-02-10
The gambling debate went on at the Statehouse Monday in closed-door meetings.

Casino referendum spending sets record - 2004-02-10
The fight over the casino referendum is the most costly election campaign ever in Dane County, with the Ho-Chunk Nation poised to spend at least $1.3 million.

The tribe has outspent its opponent, local anti-casino group No Dane Casino, more than 40 to 1 through Feb.2, leading up to the Feb. 17 referendum on expanding gambling at DeJope Bingo Hall on the Southeast Side. The heated six-week debate has been on the merits of allowing slot machines, blackjack, poker and craps there.

The Ho-Chunk spent $991,069 and No Dane Casino spent $24,027, according to campaign finance records filed Monday with the Dane County clerk.
