ESPN Has Enjoyed Growing Success With The WSOP - 2004-02-01
As the title of the show hints, NBC's poker venture is in conjunction with the Travel Channel, which has hit the jackpot with the World Poker Tour.

Its Wednesday night show -- featuring the best poker players matching wits in exotic venues -- has become the cable channel's most popular program.

Lately, it seems everybody is anteing up for poker.

For several years, ESPN has enjoyed growing success with the World Series of Poker from Binion's Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas.

Stakes are high in river case - 2004-02-01
What may seem to be a small squabble over a few logs in the St. Joseph River is turning into a high stakes poker game.

On one side of the table sits the DNR showing a pair of aces. On the other side, the Upper St. Joseph River Association (USJRA) can only hope they draw into a flush.

Michiana conservation and sportfishing groups watch nervously, hoping the DNR doesn't fold. Its opponent, unfazed by the bad odds, must figure the stakes are worthy of a gutsy bluff.
