Broadcasting poker is changing the game, including the methods the best players use.

Poker's boom has been apparent throughout recent events at the TV critics' press tour.

World Poker Tour on Wednesday nights on the Travel Channel ``is our No. 1 series,ratings-wise,'' said one network executive. Travel is accordingly getting ready for a second WPT season in March. World Poker Tour: Hollywood Home Game, featuring celebrity players, premieres on the Travel Channel on Jan. 25. And NBC will carry The Travel Channel World Poker Tour Battle of Champions on the afternoon of Feb. 1, Super Bowl Sunday.

Poker Players Descend On Melbourne - 2004-01-09
The world's top poker players will arrive to Melbourne from for the southern hemisphere's richest poker tournament.

At least $1.5 million in prize money will be on offer in the Aussie Millions poker championship at Melbourne's Casino until January 17.

Over 150 players from around the world were expected to compete in a string of daily events before the main competition begins on January 15.

The three-day-tournament with a $10,000 buy-in figure is expected to attract the cream of international poker professionals, as well as keen amateurs.
