Sorting out those pesky betting limits - 2004-01-06
In last week's column, I deliberately skimmed over Texas Hold'em betting limits because I needed more column space for it than was available to me. It's something that was difficult for me to learn, and occasionally I still have trouble with it.

When you think about betting amounts, there are three types of games: Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit. No Limit Texas Hold'em is mostly what you saw being televised on the Travel Channel from the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Pot Limit is complicated, and I have no clue what that's about. Limit Texas Hold'em is further divided into Low Limit and High Limit games.

Janet wins £177,726 for just £1 bet! - 2004-01-06
Anyone who complains that a pound doesn't go quite as far as it used to should have a chat with Janet Hart.

She placed a single jackpot bet of just £1 at a Sheffield casino – and won a staggering £177,726.
One of the longest-standing customers of Napoleons Ecclesall Road, she landed the largeset ever windfall in its progressive casino stud poker game.

Mrs Hart, who lives in Chesterfield, is a founder member of the casino, which opened in 1975.
