The stakes were high, the tension thick -- an unexpectedly compelling combination that drew hundreds of people to Drexler's Barbecue to watch the latest trend in sports, celebrity poker.

"Celebrity poker is hot. It's a great game. You just got to get lucky. You need the cards, baby," said former Houston Rocket Clyde Drexler.

Sports and entertainment celebrities bluffed and bet their way through several hands of hold 'em poker.

Gambling raid nets public officials - 2004-01-31
The Supreme Court will have to assign a new judge to handle the case against a former state trooper, a school board member, Chickasaw State Park officials and others cited over an illegal poker game in the park.

General Sessions Judge Larry McKenzie recused himself from the case Friday.

Earlier in the week Chester County deputies and Henderson police, after receiving a tip, raided a card game at Cabin 13. They seized two weapons, $643.50 in cash, four decks of cards, a pair of dice and the table the men were playing on, according to a police report on file at the Chester County Courthouse.
