Best Poker Players In The Nation Are Scheduled To Be In Reno - 2004-01-29
Some of the top poker players in the country are expected to be in Reno Feb. 20 through Feb. 28 to match wits and strategies in the Peppermill Reno Hotel Casino's prestigious big Winter Poker Tournament with $250,000 prize pot.

A field of 1,200 players is anticipated to take part in the eight days of heated poker action that will include Texas Hold'em and Omaha Hi-Low Split. Each day will feature an early morning satellite event, then a different tournament game followed by an evening second chance tournament each with a $120 buy-in and no re-buys.

Winter Games features...WINTER this year - 2004-01-29
The New York Times, consider yourself invited.

That was the word Wednesday from Nicki Nicholas of the Iowa Great Lakes Chamber of Commerce. The New York Times, THE leading newspaper in the U.S., sent out a reporter to Okoboji, Iowa, two years ago to cover the 22nd Annual University of Okoboji Winter Games.

For 21 years, the games went on without a university. In year 22, there was no winter.

And the same almost held true a year ago for the 23rd annual event. The snowmobile poker run in 2003 was canceled. The reason: No snow.
