Guacamole to win Super Bowl MVP - 2004-01-26
Last Sunday, as NFL's AFC and NFC championships appeared on the horizon, I pegged myself a Nostradamus of sorts. This is because preseason I predicted an Eagles/Colts Super Bowl and with Peyton Manning slingin' the skin like his daddy and the Eagles 'D' staring at country-boy Jake Delhomme. I gave myself a pat on the back for a job well done.

Long story short, Manning yakked the ball up four times, Donovan McNabb cracked a rib and I was left with a bruised ego and a sense of bewilderment. So, with Super Sunday fast approaching I have decided to bet on things I know I cannot lose. Friday night I took home 15 bones in nickel-ante poker and Saturday night I won 100 more clams at Bingo Planet.

Suburban businesses busted for illegal gambling - 2004-01-26
The Cook County Sheriff's Department raided a number of suburban businesses for illegal gambling. The sheriff revealed videotapes showing the busts and the items confiscated.

They seized video poker machines. Video poker machines in Illinois are not illegal to own, but it is against the law to pay out to the winner.

In an on going under cover investigation the Cook County sheriff's department confiscated dozens of machines and issued arrests warrants for 11 suburban bartenders.
