Rate-Hike Talks With FMPA Hit Impasse - 2004-01-23
In what is starting to look like a game of high-stakes poker, city officials are still waiting for a new hand -- and becoming impatient.

Lakeland Electric supervisors and city commissioners were hoping a Thursday meeting would bring a settlement in the stalemated negotiations to alter what has turned out to be a devastatingly costly contract to sell power to the Florida Municipal Power Agency.

But what they got was more of the same: a pledge to continue negotiations.
