Man fatally shot while playing poker game with friends - 2004-01-21
Conroe police are hoping witnesses will have more information on a killer who targeted someone during a poker game.

Investigators say 10 to 15 people were playing cards in an apartment when the gunman forced the door open. He walked up to 38-year-old Mariano Cuevas-Gonzalez and shot him four times in the chest.

"The suspect apparently entered the apartment, walked up to the victim, and shot the victim and then left," said Sgt. Bob Berry with the Conroe Police Department.

Biased video poker machines? Not likely - 2004-01-21
I gamble in one of three places: The South where I live, Biloxi and Shreveport, and where my daughter resides, Reno, Nev. I limit my play to only video poker. Though my playing style stays constant, it appears that I am luckier in Reno than in the casinos here in the South. My question: Is it possible that the video poker machines are not really random here in the South, but instead, biased that high cards come up less often than expected? Marty C.
