Omaha Hi/Lo and the normal five-card and seven-card variations have always been popular home games, but these days, thanks in part to the influence of poker on TV, Texas Hold'em rules. It's a "community card" game, in which five cards are dealt face-up at the center of the table and shared by all the players. Each player has two cards of his or her own, and combines them with the five "community" cards to come up with the best possible five-card hand.

Talk of an Alaska casino circulating in Juneau - 2004-01-16
Yet again, talk is circulating among lawmakers in Juneau to build a large casino to Anchorage.

The Alaska Department of Revenue has concluded that video poker machines could bring as much as $80 million to fund state government.

Poker champ and furrier Perry Green is getting credit for the idea, according to the Anchorage Daily News. He wants the casino installed at the site of the former Alaska Seafood International plant.
