Pro loves gambling - but warns of its dangers - 2004-01-13
Susanne Way's grandfather built the wood bar in the Olin Avenue tavern that hosted mobster and poker player Al Capone when he passed through Madison on his way to a northern Wisconsin hideout.

Way started playing poker herself when she was 3 years old while hanging out at Antlers, the bar her parents owned off the Beltline near South Towne.

Now 43, Way has spent most of her adult life working for casinos, dealing cards at Bally's Grand and the Hilton in Reno, and at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, among other major casinos.

Wow, that sun is bright. Pardon me while I squint.

As you can tell, it has been a while since I've been out of the college football bunker. It seems that there's a bright, bold world out there I've been missing since, oh, July.

Starbucks, The World Series of Poker, The Simple Life. These things fascinate me after living on a diet of Coke, Fritos and sub sandwiches in press boxes for the past six months.
