Penrith insolvency tipped - 2004-01-12
The financial foundation of premiers Penrith will start to fall apart in the coming 12 months, according to Panthers Leagues club supremo Roger Cowan.

Cowan has forecast a bleak future with the implementation of the State Government's new poker machine tax, claiming an independent report compiled by insolvency experts Ferrier Hodgson had "under-estimated" its impact.

Cowan's comments come amid the salary cap debate sparked by the Sydney Roosters' threat to take legal action if it is not increased.

Landmark Vegas casino shuts down after federal agents seize cash - 2004-01-12
Lady luck isn't on the side of a Las Vegas landmark.

Binion's Horseshoe hotel-casino kicked guests out today, a day after federal agents shut down the casino floor and seized money to pay for overdue employee benefits.

The front doors were locked and yellow police tape greeted visitors to the Las Vegas fixture for 52 years -- and home to the wildly popular World Series of Poker.
