Casino would put end to bingo - 2004-01-10
Bingo will no longer be played at DeJope if it is to be converted into a casino, because the 1,200-seat bingo hall will be replaced with slot machines.

In fact, half of the hall's main bingo floor was electronically wired for slots when DeJope Bingo Hall was built on Madison's Southeast Side in 1999, Ho-Chunk officials said.

Bingo players would still be able to play the game at Ho-Chunk's three other casinos.

Dane County residents will vote in a Feb. 17 referendum on expanded gambling at DeJope, allowing Class III style games such as slot machines, blackjack, poker and roulette.

Lifting the curtain on Jaswant’s sop opera - 2004-01-10
The turning point in the first ODI between India and Australia, played on Friday, was the catch taken by Ricky Ponting off a Tendulkar pull to the mid-wicket. The achievement was announced on the last day of the year, and since then Delhi has been a beehive of activity. Annual vacations were cancelled, Mr Brajesh Mishra raised the stakes in his poker game with Pakistan, and Mr Jaswant Singh got ready to play Santa Claus.
