Downtown open for a Stroll - 2003-10-24
The first fall frost didn't halt the social scene that had spiraled during the summer's riverfront Farmers' Market. It just relocated to downtown Jefferson Street where additional shopping hours and special events are bringing back the Thursday night market regulars.

In its third week, the Stroll is accumulating elements regularly in addition to keeping some tried–and–trues. One change is the weekly themes. Tonight it will be Oktoberfest, next week is Open House preview. There's a Poker Run on the schedule as well as Ladies Night Out and Men's Night Out.

Man accused of beating bar manager over seized poker machines - 2003-10-24
A man accused of providing video poker machines beat an Allentown bar manager with a 2-by-4 after the gambling games were confiscated during a state police inspection of the establishment, prosecutors said.

The state attorney general's office on Wednesday arrested Dale Scott Houser, 38, of nearby Hanover Township, on 27 charges, capping a grand jury inspection that began in May 2002.
