Poker
The point of the game of video poker is trying to
end up with a winning poker amalgamation, such as a three of
a kind, full house, straight or royal flush.
The game starts when you place a bet on the video poker machine
and are given five cards. Hereafter, you designate the cards
you want to keep by pressing the hold button under each card.
The ones that aren't held will be replaced with new cards. Your
payoff from your best hand will then be tabulated by the machine.
Hands that pay off in poker are the subsequent combination,
starting with the worst, which is a one-pair hand. This can
be any pair of Aces, kings, queens or jacks. A two pair is a
hand holding two pairs of cards that have the same value plus
one other card, such as 4, 4, 6, 6 and 7.

Three of a kind is when your hand consists of
two odd cards and three cards of the same point value.
Next is a straight, which is five cards of different suits but
in numerical order. An example would be a three of spades, four
of diamonds, five of clubs, six of spades and seven of hearts.
Five cards of the same suit would give you a flush. Three cards
of one rank and two of another would give you a full house,
like three sixes and two nines.
Four cards of the same value and one other card is known as
four of a kind.
The second ranking combination in poker is a straight flush
where five cards are in order of the same suit.
The highest poker hand is the royal flush which consists of
a 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of the same suit. |
